Paving Project at Sierra and Juniper Metrolink Crossings to Require Lane Closures

Metrolink Sidewalk

Fontana, Calif.- Please be advised that roadwork to improve the Metrolink crossings at Sierra Avenue and Juniper Avenue will require intermittent lane closures beginning Tuesday, February 13, 2018 and continuing throughout the month of February. The public is encouraged to avoid the area between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews work to complete the Metrolink At-Grade Pedestrian Improvement Project.

The work this week will consist of replacing the old pavement with new pavement. The schedule is as follows:

2/13: Removal of deteriorated pavement on Sierra (both southbound and northbound)

2/14: Removal of deteriorated pavement on Juniper (both southbound and northbound)

2/15: Pave Sierra (both southbound and northbound)

2/16: Pave Juniper (both southbound and northbound)

The City of Fontana was awarded two $750,000 grants from the Transportation Development Act for the Metrolink At-Grade Crossing Pedestrian Improvement Project. The project included new sidewalks, curb and gutters at the crossings, widening Sierra Avenue and the installation of pedestrian crossing gates and bike lane signage. The work began in October 2017 and is expected to be complete by March 2018.
