What Does Veterans Day Mean to You? Write or Draw Your Answer for the Veterans Day Ceremony

Veterans Day Ceremony Contests

Fontana, Calif.The City of Fontana invites the community to honor veterans during the Veterans Day Ceremony and pay tribute with the Annual Dr. Charles Koehler's Writing Contest and an Art Contest. Submissions are due Friday, October 13, 2017.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at the Memorial Rose Garden (16830 Spring Street) on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The event includes guest speakers and a number of military ceremonial traditions.

To enter the writing contest, individuals must be 18 years or under and submit a 250-word maximum essay or poem to answer the question, "What does Veterans Day mean to you?" The top three entrees will receive a Visa gift card, an opportunity to read the essay/poem during the Ceremony and have the writing featured in the Fontana Herald News. 

To enter the art contest, individuals must be 8 years or under and submit a drawing of what a veteran means to him or her. The top three entries will be recognized during the event and have his or her patriotic artwork featured in the event program. 

Contest entries are due on Friday, October 13, 2017. Submissions can be made by email (Events@Fontana.org), mail or in-person to:
