Immerse in Culture with Fall Interactive Art Activities and Events

Day of the Dead

Fontana, Calif.- The Fontana community is invited to attend interactive cultural art activities throughout Fall 2017.

Activities include Make & Create workshops, Pajama Paint Nights and Artist Workshops at the Art Depot Gallery (16822 Spring St.). Dates, times and prices for the events are as follows:

Make & Create Workshops: 1:00 - 4:00 pm. $3 per person

  • Saturday, September 16, 2017 - Melting Crayons
  • Saturday, October 14, 2017 - Succulent Pumpkin Planters
  • Saturday, November 18, 2017 - Fallen Leaf Lanterns
  • Saturday, December 16, 2017 - Hot Chocolate Ornaments

 Pajama Paint Nights: 6:30 - 8:30 pm. $3 per child

  • Friday, October 20 and Friday, October 27, 2017 - Monster Art Bash (ages 5-11)
  • Friday, December 1, 2017 - Santa's Workshop (ages 3-5)
  • Friday, December 15, 2017 - Let It Snow! (ages 5-11)

Artists Workshops: 12:00 - 4:00 pm. Free for all ages. Featured artist Pablo Lazo will demonstrate and teach hands-on techniques he uses to create mixed media artwork.

Not only is the Art Depot holding events, but the Fontana Arts Program and the Lewis Library and Technology Center are also inviting guests to explore the arts, history and entertainment during Hispanic Heritage Month and Dia de los Muertos.

Help bring Hispanic Heritage Month to life with a celebration of the histories, cultures and contributions during La Gran Fiesta, held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Lewis Library and Technology Center (8437 Sierra Ave.). There will be songs from Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica played by Marimba Tropical, art activities and games throughout the library and a performance by Tradicion Dance Company. The first 100 people to register for the event online (search "Hispanic Heritage: La Gran Fiesta") will receive a complimentary Fontana Arts bag.

Honor those who have passed during Dia de los Muertos on Tuesday, November 2, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. at the Lewis Library and Technology Center. Wearing the best Day of the Dead costume, join in on an evening of art activities, sugar skull face painting, vendors and special performances from Trio Ellas and the Danza Azteca Nuevo Amanecer Guadalupano traditional dancers. The first 75 people to register online (search "Dia de los Muertos") will receive a complimentary Fontana Arts bag.
