City partners in Eviction Prevention Assistance

The City of Fairfield Housing Services Department has partnered with Legal Services of Northern California, Project Sentinel, and Shelter Inc to assist City of Fairfield families impacted by the Coronavirus Pandemic in seeking assistance related to eviction or to prevent eviction.
Legal Services of Northern California has been granted $25,000 and will provide eviction prevention services to low-income and senior Fairfield tenants. Legal Services attorneys will counsel tenants on their legal rights, advocate for tenants in resolving rental disputes before evictions, assist tenants in representing themselves in eviction proceedings, negotiate settlements in eviction proceedings, and provide limited representation in eviction proceedings. Fairfield residents can call 707-643-0054 between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday to make an appointment.
Shelter Inc. has been granted $377,000 to provide rental assistance to low and moderate-income families that the Coronavirus Pandemic has impacted. The Program will pay a family's past due rent of up to 25% per month for six months. Residence can apply for services at http://www.shelterinc.org/renthelp
Project Sentinel has been granted $70,000 and will offer free housing counseling, conciliation, and mediation to anyone involved in a housing dispute. As a neutral agency, Project Sentinel provides legal information and administers a panel of professional mediators who assist parties with issues around termination, security deposits, habitability, maintenance/repairs, and beyond.
