*Los Angeles County Department of Public Health began reporting cases of positive COVID-19 based on the zip code the patient listed in the medical records.  This reporting started on March 22, 2020 and El Segundo has had 32 reported cases.

**The Centers for Disease Control recommends a 14-day quarantine once a patient tests positive and then recommends a follow-up test to validate that the patient doesn’t have active virus load.  It has been determined that a majority of cases resolve within the 14-day period, however some patients remain symptomatic beyond the 14-day period.  This reporting of active cases takes a more generalized approach however, all patients are encouraged to follow medical guidance.

Updates

  • The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health revised the Safer At Home Order today to allow beach bike paths and county public parking lots to reopen. More information on LA County beaches and parking lots can be found on their website. The revised order also allows indoor shopping malls to reopen for curbside service only. Businesses and customers must practice physical distancing and wear face coverings. Additional information regarding the guidelines can be found on the City's website.
  • El Segundo City Council sent a letter to Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn on Thursday, May 21, requesting urgent action to allow restaurant and retail businesses in El Segundo and throughout the South Bay to reopen immediately while following LA County Department of Public Health Phase 3 guidelines and safety protocols. To read the full letter, please visit the City's website.
