Mission To Honor Veterans

.

Supervisor Turnboo attended the Mission to Honor Veterans event at Foothills Church in Cameron Park. The event is an opportunity for veterans to virtually experience the National War Memorials in Washington, D.C. without leaving their local area. The event included a number of presentations and activities created to honor the service of veterans. Supervisor Turnboo enjoyed passing out pins and challenge coins as honoraria for the veterans. The stories told by the veterans were incredible and show the will and determination of our military. Supervisor Turnboo honored each veteran he met and thanked each veteran for their service. Supervisor Turnboo's father was a military veteran who served in the Korean War as one of the Chosin Few, so Supervisor Turnboo recognizes the importance of honoring military veterans.

Another Title 25 Event

El Dorado County Seal

We recently celebrated the latest round of Title 25 homes in Grizzly Flats with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by HomeAid Sacramento. The event was well attended by home builders, the press and supportive locals. The efforts of HomeAid Sacramento, Elliott Homes, USA Properties Fund Inc. and NEXT Crafted Inc. have supported the building of Title 25 homes for Caldor Fire survivors. Residents in Grizzly Flats were destitute after the Caldor Fire and would have little hope rebuilding a home without the generous charity of community non-profits, industry leaders and local leaders pushing to create the current Title 25 program. We look forward to more Title 25 homes being built for Caldor Fire survivors in Grizzly Flats.

Fraud, Scams and Identity Theft

Criminal behavior comes in many forms, and sometimes appears not to be criminal. Fraud, scams, and identity theft are some crimes that may appear legitimate at first. Scams are often designed with the intention of looking legitimate. Some of the most common scams are: Work-at-Home, Fake Check, Vacation and Travel, or local online scams. Many scams rely on fraud as the primary tool of deception. El Dorado County provides 10 Ways You Can Avoid Fraud and a to-do list for victims of fraud. Identity theft tends to be the end result of scams and fraud, so El Dorado County also provides ideas to prevent identity theft. Contact the FBI, Fraud.org or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for more information, or to file a complaint.

Stop Human Trafficking

-

Human trafficking is one of the little-known hidden dangers in society. Even in El Dorado County, forms of forced labor and the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) are occurring and must be stopped. If you witness human trafficking, make a confidential toll-free call to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at 1 (888) 373-7888 to get help for the victim. In many cases, victims need an outside resource to help.
