For over 20 years the Food Bank of El Dorado County has helped our neighbors who struggle to make ends meet. The Food Bank has relationships with many local non-profit organizations, businesses and government agencies to ensure people are fed. In addition to the Emergency Food Assistance Network, they have also started a Commodity Supplemental Food Program for seniors over 60, free farmer’s market events, and the No Vet Goes Hungry Program. The Food Bank welcomes visitors and volunteers who want to help feed people, and there other ways to give help as well. Volunteering at the Food Bank is a way to give back to the community. The El Dorado County Fair is in full swing at the El Dorado County Fair and Event Center in Placerville, CA. For 2026, the County Fair has been scheduled from June 18th to 21^st. The County Fair hosts many events for local and regional participants, which include funnel cake eating contests, kids big wheel races, 4x4 Rubicon Challenge, wheelbarrow races and many more. The County Fair has many concession stands, fair games, roller coasters, carnival rides and many other opportunities for wholesome family entertainment. The Junior Livestock Auction helps to support local livestock producers and children learning about the industry. Performers across the fairgrounds take to the stage to show various talents and Placerville Speedway is converted into a racing surface for a number of different events. The El Dorado County Fair provides an enormous return on investment for the local economy by bringing people together and promoting production, education, and heritage for our region. The annual County Fair has become a treasured event locally and considerable preparations are made to ensure the fair is safe and successful. El Dorado Transit is the primary public transportation provider in El Dorado County facilitating hundreds of miles of road on the west slope and beyond. Many people may not know that El Dorado Transit is running and picking up passengers using a hands-free technology that makes riding around town safe and easy for everyone. For longer trips, El Dorado Transit also connects to other transportation services using the same pass service for fares. El Dorado Transit also operates a number of Park and Ride locations as options for residents and a Dial-A-Ride program for residents with disabilities and seniors. Supervisor George Turnboo currently sits on the El Dorado Transit Board of Directors and helps make decisions regarding public transportation for El Dorado County. Supervisor Turnboo works with El Dorado Transit staff to ensure that residents have the best experience when they ride public transportation in El Dorado County.

For 2026, El Dorado Transit is offering a free shuttle from parking lots to the El Dorado County Fair.

The RCD can help public or private landowners get assistance with vegetation management and tree removal at no cost to the landowner. This could be helpful for residents recovering after a wildfire. RCD is a grassroots government organization that advises and assists individual landowners and public agencies in planning and implementation of conservation practices for the protection, restoration, or development of land, water, and related natural resources. The El Dorado County Resource Conservation District and Georgetown Divide Resource Conservation District are local, independent, non-enforcement, non-regulatory, self-governed districts organized under Division 9 of the Public Resource Code. Fire Safe Councils and residents are encouraged to reach out to RCD for assistance in creating defensible space and hazard tree removal.
