El Dorado Transit hosted a 2026 Bus Wrap competition for local school children as a way of encouraging public transportation ridership. Supervisor Turnboo was one of a number of selected judges for the competition. Many of the drawings were excellent and it made choosing a finalist very difficult. Ultimately, the bus wrap drawing was won by an 8^th Grader from Gold Trail School. Supervisor Turnboo joined Supervisor Veerkamp for a celebration event at Gold Trail School to honor the 8^th Grader and their drawing but also to promote El Dorado Transit as an organization. The event was wonderful and both Supervisor Turnboo and Supervisor Veerkamp enjoyed their time visiting with staff at their alma mater Gold Trail School.

El Dorado County Recorder-Clerk offers a wonderful service hosting marriage ceremonies with a beautiful venue and multiple locations for the ceremony. Marriage is an important decision in people's lives, and the cost of a big wedding can be too expensive. The Recorder-Clerk provides a less expensive and expedited way to get married at the County offices. In some cases, residents can even pursue a Remote Issued Marriage License. Additionally, the Recorder-Clerk has a Deputy Commissioner of Marriage Program to qualify friends or relatives to conduct the marriage ceremony. El Dorado County is reviewing elements of the West Slope Vacation Home Rental (VHR) ordinance. As part of the Board’s direction during the formation of the West Slope Ad Hoc Committee, this review will consider adjustments to parcel buffers (including smaller or no buffers for larger parcels), the inclusion of attached and detached guest houses, potential removal of the Hosted Home Rentals buffer on the West Slope, and a re-examination of occupancy levels. We want to understand what outcomes the public supports and what should be avoided to balance neighborhood character, housing, tourism, safety, and property rights.

El Dorado County accepts certain household hazardous waste from residents. The Environmental Management Department provides information regarding what constitutes household hazardous waste, and the proper ways of disposing the waste. On February 21st, El Dorado County will host another household hazardous waste collection event by appointment only.
