El Dorado County District 2 Newsletter

The El Dorado Hills Area Planning Advisory Committee (APAC) was formed in 1981 to provide public input for the development of the County’s new area plan for El Dorado Hills and Salmon Falls. While APAC is only an advisory committee to the County, its recommendations make a difference by influencing land use projects. APAC submits reports, expresses support or disagreement with land use planning for the community. They provide a list of EDH related documents as part of projects being reviewed, upcoming events, and the latest news.

El Dorado County is reviewing elements of the West Slope Vacation Home Rental (VHR) ordinance. As part of the Board’s direction during the formation of the West Slope Ad Hoc Committee, this review will consider adjustments to parcel buffers (including smaller or no buffers for larger parcels), the inclusion of attached and detached guest houses, potential removal of the Hosted Home Rentals buffer on the West Slope, and a re-examination of occupancy levels. We want to understand what outcomes the public supports and what should be avoided to balance neighborhood character, housing, tourism, safety, and property rights.

El Dorado County accepts certain household hazardous waste from residents. The Environmental Management Department provides information regarding what constitutes household hazardous waste, and the proper ways of disposing the waste. On February 21st, El Dorado County will host another household hazardous waste collection event by appointment only. To participate in the upcoming waste collection event, please contact the Environmental Management Department directly by phone at (530) 621-5300 or by email at hhw@edcgov.us to schedule an appointment.
