Biochar Demonstration
-
.
Supervisor Turnboo joined Greg Stanton and many others interested in biochar for a demonstration at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds hosted by the Biochar Coalition. The demonstration showed the capabilities of the Ring of Fire kiln and it's ability to reduce vegetation into reusable biochar. Biochar Coalition employs a placed based carbon conversion geared towards ecological stewardship and resource conservation through grass roots and boots on the ground mentality. Their process can assist to open up pathways to less intensive biomass management strategies to reduce operating costs, decrease footprint, protect timber lands and assist agriculture industry. Biochar has many industrial and agricultural uses due to its unique pH balance and ability to retain water. The Biochar Coalition is leading the way in modern methods and strategies for managing forest lands with minimal impact and encouraging communities across California to think more about biochar for sustainability.
