The FEMA Act of 2025 (H.R. 4669) is being supported by Congressman Kevin Kiley as an effort to streamline federal response to disasters. The bill would elevate FEMA to a cabinet-level independent agency to enhance authority and streamline operations in disaster management. The legislation language reforms FEMA to focus on disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery, including clearer chains of authority and responsibility. After being introduced to the House of Representatives in March, the bill has been referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, a key subcommittee appointment for Rep. Kiley, and the Committee on Homeland Security. The FEMA Act of 2025 enjoys bipartisan support to expand pre-disaster programs to reduce risks and increase support for communities recovering after disasters. The District 2 office of Supervisor George Turnboo applauds Congressman Kevin Kiley and all supporters of the much needed FEMA Act of 2025, especially since residents were denied FEMA Individual Assistance.

For over 20 years the Food Bank of El Dorado County has helped our neighbors who struggle to make ends meet. The Food Bank has relationships with many local non-profit organizations, businesses and government agencies to ensure people are fed. In addition to the Emergency Food Assistance Network, they have also started a Commodity Supplemental Food Program for seniors over 60, free farmer’s market events, and the No Vet Goes Hungry Program. The Food Bank welcomes visitors and volunteers who want to help feed people, and there other ways to give help as well. A Community Services District (CSD) is a California Special District created by a local community to act as a local form of government to meet specific needs. When residents desire more services, they can form a special district to pay for and administer them. Community Services Districts are formed through CA Gov. Code §61000 et seq. to provide up to 32 different services, such as water, garbage, security, recreation, lighting, etc. The special district can consist of any county or counties of an unincorporated territory or incorporated territory of a contiguous or noncontiguous area. Community Services Districts are governed by a board of five directors with four-year terms, elected by local voters, and directors can be elected at large.

The El Dorado County Facilities Division is a Division of the Chief Administrative Office (CAO) that safeguards public and county staff, preserves County capital investments and provides quality customer services. The Facilities Division is responsible for providing internal support services to County departments. They provide construction, maintenance, custodial and real property negotiation services. The Facilities Division maintains the grounds of El Dorado County owned facilities, such as the El Dorado County Veterans Monument, to provide a welcoming atmosphere for residents to enjoy their visit.
