Kings Meats

The 2025 El Dorado County Staff Appreciation Barbecue was a successful event attended by hundreds of County employees. Sheriff Leikauf, Supervisor Turnboo, Supervisor Veerkamp and staff were cooking hamburgers and hot dogs donated by Casey King of King's Meats. Other County staff and volunteers, led by the Human Resources Department, provided other supplies for employee lunches. Everyone in attendance was in good spirits and grateful for the barbecue luncheon. El Dorado County likes to show appreciation towards employees with an annual barbecue lunch hosted at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. Special thanks to the Human Resources Department staff and other volunteers for arranging the event to benefit County employees. Special thanks to Casey King of King’s Meats for donating the hamburgers and hot dogs and overseeing the cooking.

Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians

The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors Chair George Turnboo supports Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians Tribal Fire Department (Tribal Fire Department), led by Chief John Tayaba, for all the hard work they do to protect the community. Despite being a sovereign nation with their own governing bodies, Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians Tribal Fire Department partners with federal, state and local governments to assist and respond to the wider community because they are also part of the wider community. They have been a reliable resource for El Dorado County by demonstrating exceptional dedication to public safety, wildfire prevention, and emergency response services within our county, particularly in collaboration with local agencies such as CAL FIRE and the El Dorado County Fire Protection District. El Dorado County is honored to have the support of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians Tribal Fire Department. The Board of Supervisors recognizes the vital role played by the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians in enhancing regional fire safety and resilience. We commend their efforts and pledge continued support for their programs and resources.
