El Dorado County Library

The El Dorado County Library provides free and easy access to ideas, books, and technology to promote literacy, lifelong learning, and opportunities to increase standards of living. The first public library in our region began in downtown Placerville in 1906. At present, the El Dorado County Library consists of six branches and two outreach vehicles. The Library provides many services in addition to book services, including Community Hubs at the Library, Emergency Preparedness, Voter Information, Online Resources and Unemployment Application Help. The Library provides a family friendly environment with programs and events for Early Education, School Age Kids and Teens. Library supporters are encouraged to donate, volunteer and join Friends of the Library of El Dorado County. Read about the Library and its history, Frequently Asked Questions or contact the library. El Dorado County Law Library

The El Dorado County Law Library provides local residents with public access to legal information. The County Law Library maintains a collection of 9,000+ printed volumes, both Federal Law and California Law, with a selection of primary and secondary sources. Access is provided to premium legal research databases, such as Westlaw, CEB Onlaw and EBSCO (NOLO E-Books). Household Hazardous Waste Event

El Dorado County accepts certain household hazardous waste from local residents. The Environmental Management Department provides information regarding what constitutes household hazardous waste, and the proper ways of disposing the waste. On October 14th, El Dorado County will host another household hazardous waste collection event by appointment only. To participate in the upcoming waste collection event, please contact the Environmental Management Department directly by phone at (530) 621-5300 or by email at hhw@edcgov.us to schedule an appointment.
