Emergency Operations Plan

EDSO Logo

El Dorado County Operations of Emergency Services (OES) presented an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) to the Board of Supervisors. In 1994, the Board of Supervisors designated the El Dorado Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) with the responsibility of managing the County’s OES. The mission of El Dorado County OES is to prepare the people in El Dorado County to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies which threaten life, property, or the environment. County OES provides guidance and other information that helps residents prepare for emergencies. El Dorado County emergency alerts are available from EDSO. Other tools available are Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plan (FEMA) and Preparedness for Your Business from Ready.gov. Training is available through Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the American Red Cross.

The Board of Supervisors updated the County Strategic Plan in 2022 to support the creation and maintenance of fire-adapted communities through a countywide wildfire protection strategy. The Office of Wildfire Preparedness and Resilience (OWPR) was established to create a fire adapted and resilient El Dorado County through collaboration and coordination of planning and implementation of wildfire mitigation activities across the region. OWPR leans on a WPR Advisory Committee with an Organizational Charter to plan formal actions. Projects, defensible space, Fire Hazard Severity Zone update and an online mapping tool are currently available to residents. Additional resources are available for more related information. Contact OWPR directly at (530) 621-5569 or by email at wildfireready@edcgov.us.
