El Dorado County offers Housing and Homelessness Services through the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA). Included in these services is the Public Housing Authority (PHA) that operates a Housing Choice Voucher Program to low income renters. PHA also offers the Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program and Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV) to residents. Employment Services

Golden Sierra Job Training

Employment services are available to job seekers through programs provided by El Dorado County HHSA Self Sufficiency Division. Golden Sierra Job Training Agency provides job search resources. Advanced Employment Services is a woman-owned staffing agency. California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program provides assistance and opportunities to families with children, including the Welfare-to-Work program. General assistance, high school diploma equivalency information and employer services are also available. El Dorado County government also has employment opportunities. HHSA Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed to help our community and individuals with specific needs. Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) maintains a volunteer opportunities brochure and volunteer application to encourage residents to set aside time to help others. Volunteer opportunities exist in Child Protective Services, CalWORKs Employment Services, Public Health Services, Mental Health Services, Older Adult Services and Animal Services. Certain restrictions may apply for specific volunteer opportunities. Not all volunteer opportunities are granted, but all volunteers are appreciated.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

El Dorado County Air Quality Management District (AQMD) is providing access to a grant program designed to improve air quality by promoting the use of low emission electric vehicles. Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), which would include charging stations, are being made available to retail business locations and points of interest throughout El Dorado County. Projects for EVSE will be evaluated by AQMD for award consideration. Proposals for $5,000 per Level 2 EVSE charging station is allowed up to ten charging stations per application. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facilities

Household Hazardous Waste

El Dorado County accepts certain household hazardous waste from local residents. The Environmental Management Department provides information regarding what constitutes household hazardous waste, and the proper ways of disposing the waste. There are three permanent Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection facilities that accept most HHW free of charge. Names, locations, and current work hours of HHW facilities are listed below. Scheduled appointment may be required.
