On July 19, 2004, the Board of Supervisors adopted a new General Plan for El Dorado County. The last amendment for the General Plan was completed December 10, 2019. The El Dorado County General Plan is a basic planning document and is the vehicle through which El Dorado County addresses, balances and fits together the competing interests and needs of residents. The General Plan works like a “blueprint” for development throughout the county. The adoption of ordinances, resolutions and approval of other programs are focused around implementing the General Plan. The primary elements of the General Plan are: Land Use, Transportation and Circulation, Housing, Public Services and Utilities, Public Health, Safety Additional parts of the General Plan include: Supporting Documents, Housing Element, Integrated Natural Resources Management, Land Use Policy and Historic Land Use Maps.

Caldor Fire Rebuilding

Residents in Grizzly Flats have begun the rebuilding process after the Caldor Fire. The process to rebuild requires working with the Building and Planning Services to help expedite the permits required to rebuild legally. The Building Department provides resources for Caldor Fire rebuilding. Resources include: El Dorado County Building Department Rebuild Flowchart, Frequently Asked Questions, Septic System Frequently Asked Questions, PG&E Resources: Rebuilding after a Wildfire, Caldor Fire Rebuild Estimate Worksheet and El Dorado County Caldor Fire Rebuild Step by Step. Guidance for Owners and Occupants of Damaged Building, Rebuilding After a Disaster, Single Family Dwelling Review Guidelines, and rebuilding Permit Application (Part 4 / Part 5) are also available. Additional requirements for rebuilding are: Site Plan Requirements, Residential Structures Requirements and Pioneer Fire Temporary Housing Requirements. Specific guidance is also available in the form of the Caldor Fire Temporary Recreational Vehicle/Manufactured Home Program to submit an application and obtain a TRV permit. There is a Caldor Fire Fee Waiver Process for qualifying individuals who submit a waiver request form. Stop Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is one of the little-known hidden dangers in society. Even in El Dorado County, forms of forced labor and the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) are occurring and must be stopped. If you witness human trafficking, make a confidential toll-free call to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at 1 (888) 373-7888 to get help for the victim. In many cases, victims need an outside resource to help.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Household Hazardous Waste

El Dorado County accepts certain household hazardous waste from local residents. The Environmental Management Department provides information regarding what constitutes household hazardous waste, and the proper ways of disposing the waste. On September 17th, El Dorado County will host another household hazardous waste collection event by appointment only. To participate in the upcoming waste collection event, please contact the Environmental Management Department directly by phone at (530) 621-5300 or by email at hhw@edcgov.us to schedule an appointment.
