Amador El Dorado Forest Forum |
George attended the Amador El Dorado Forest Forum (AEFF) hosted at Pioneer Park on November 17th. The AEFF is a group of forestry professionals, forest educators, and others interested in forestry practices and issues. The forum discussion surrounded building forest biomass infrastructure, and the potential opportunities to expand local wood products. George gave the County perspective on need and support for building wood products infrastructure, and partnerships moving forward. George expressed his support for a biomass facility in El Dorado County, to compliment better forest management through logging and milling locally. For more information about AEFF or AEFF meetings, please contact AEFF.

Child Protective Services |
Children are the future of our nation, so we must ensure they are protected. El Dorado County Child Protective Services (CPS) helps to identify, treat and reduce child abuse and neglect, and to ensure reasonable efforts are made to protect and maintain children in their homes. They work to provide for the safety, permanency and well-being of children at risk of abuse or neglect. When necessary, CPS will provide out of home placement and permanency planning services in addition to helping youth in foster care make the difficult transition to adulthood.
Report suspected child abuse: (844) 756-3699

Fireplace Incentives and Outdoor Burning |
The El Dorado County Air Quality Management District (AQMD) oversees air quality in our region. Part of AQMD’s mission is to maintain clean air. AQMD runs a Woodstove Replacement Incentive Program, to assist in replacing older non-EPA certified wood stoves with cleaner burning alternatives. The grant funding is limited, so call (530) 621-7501 to begin the process.
AQMD is also charged with overseeing outdoor burning in El Dorado County. Outdoor Burn Day Status is kept up to date on the AQMD website. Burn piles that are 4’ by 4’ require a burn permit from Cal-Fire during restricted burn season. Burn piles larger than 4’ by 4’ require an AQMD Burn Permit.
