Proposition 19

Prop 19

On November 3rd, 2020, California voters approved Proposition 19, which added section 2.1 to article XIII A, to allow owners of a primary residence impacted by wildfire or natural disaster to transfer the taxable value of their original primary residence to a replacement primary residence, provided that they find a primary residence within two years of selling the impacted residence. El Dorado County Assessor’s office provides information from the Board of Equalization regarding the new Proposition 19 changes. The Assessor can provide property details, and provide information on the process for calamity reduction in property taxes. During these difficult times, those impacted by natural disasters need help, and Proposition 19 can provide some relief.
