The second in a series of virtual Town Hall meetings regarding Vacation Home Rentals (VHR) was held on June 10th. We discussed the results of the Survey Monkey and addressed questions we received during the meeting. A new Survey Monkey went out and will be available until Wednesday, June 24th. Please complete our survey here.
As of July 1, 2020, Host Compliance Services have come onboard to provide VHR address identification, rental activity monitoring, tax audit support, compliance monitoring and 24/7 hotline support.
I will update you when we have scheduled the time and date of the next virtual Town Hall, where we will discuss the survey results and Host Compliance Services.
Thank you for your participation in these meetings and surveys.
On Friday, June 5, the state released new guidlines for the reopening of additional businesses. Under these new guidelines, more of our local businesses may be able to open as soon as today.
Here are links to the business types that have received additional guidance through the state:
If you own or manage one of these business types, please read through the guidelines. I know many of you have already spent a great deal of time putting your plans together, so please ensure you have everything in place for reopening.
We Must ALL Follow Guidelines to Succeed
Please keep in mind that according to the state: "All guidance should be implemented only with county health officer approval following their review of local epidemiological data including cases per 100,000 population, rate of test positivity, and local preparedness to support a health care surge, vulnerable populations, contact tracing, and testing."
Please follow the guidelines and help keep our County healthy and moving forward.

FACE COVERINGS
I have heard from many of you about the importance of face coverings. Just last Friday, the World Health Organization started advising all to wear a fabric face covering when social distancing is not possible. While they are currently not mandatory, I feel they should be worn, especially when shopping in our local stores.
I will continue to work on the possibility of requiring face coverings for those times when social distancing is not possible, so that we can continue to reopen and stay open.
I will update you as information becomes available regarding the reopening of our county.
Lake Tahoe Fun Facts
Ever noticed lakes throughout the Tahoe area are similar looking? Thousands of years ago, the world went through glacial periods in which ice plowed down from the mountain tops above and created many of the lakes we love today. Learn more about their formations here.
