1. Onsite Learning Allowed for Grades TK – 6 if School is in Compliance with State and County Directives
LA County’s adjusted case rate has remained under 25 new cases per 100,000 people for five consecutive days, meeting the State requirements for schools to open onsite learning for grades TK through 6. Onsite learning is permitted if the school is in full compliance with State and County directives.
Please remember that it is the decision of the school district or the school as to whether they will reopen for onsite learning for grades TK through 6. For grades 7 through 12, reopening will not be permitted until LA County’s case rate drops below 7 per 100,000 people.
Culver City Unified School District (CCUSD) staff are taking steps to return staff and students to campus quickly and safely. Below are just some of the actions CCUSD is taking to prepare for reopening TK-5 elementary school sites:
Currently: CCUSD is in the process of submitting several state and county documents for approval certifying that CCUSD has implemented a full range of safety measures to permit a safe reopening.
Thursday, February 18: CCUSD will send parents a Return to School survey, giving each family the opportunity to share their comfort level in having their children return to in-person learning. This will enable the district to determine the required staffing models to support both remote and hybrid (on-site) learning.
March: CCUSD staff and students, TK-5, begin to return to campus.
March/April: As students return to campus, CCUSD will be focused on supporting children in their social-emotional transition back to school, providing additional monitoring and resources to those who may have difficulty with the return to campus.
LA County is actively vaccinating healthcare workers, staff and residents at long-term care facilities, and residents 65 years or older. Eligible residents, currently included in Phase 1A, Tier 1 of the State Vaccine Allocation Guidelines, with internet access and a computer are urged to use the Vaccinate LA County website to reserve an appointment. For those without access to the internet, or with disabilities, a call center is open daily from 8 AM to 8:30 PM to help schedule appointments; dial (833) 540-0473 if you are in need of assistance. Please note that this phone line is reserved for people with disabilities or for those who don’t have internet access.
The next phase is Phase 1B Tier 1 of the State Vaccine Allocation Guidelines: Education and Childcare workers, Food and Agriculture workers, and Emergency Services workers. LA County anticipates rolling vaccine out to these workers March 1.
Nearly 1,541,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given out in LA County. Of those vaccinated, 399,642 people have received second doses. This means 5.1% of the County's population of those 16 and older have now been fully vaccinated. 39% of residents 65 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The vaccines are safe, effective and prevent serious illness. Register on the MyTurn website to be notified when you’re eligible to receive your vaccination.
There continues to be a scarcity of supply and variability in the amount of vaccine received from week to week. Last week, LA County received 219,700 doses of vaccine, and the majority of vaccines were used to provide second doses. This week there are 391 vaccination sites administering vaccine in LA County, including large capacity vaccination sites like the ones at the Forum and Dodger Stadium and sites run by hospitals, pharmacies, health clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers. Together the County has the capacity for 500,000 appointment slots this week; currently, there are only enough doses to distribute less than half that—a little over 211,000 appointments.
The City of Culver City mourns the loss of our residents who have passed away, which sadly includes the passing of residents due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The County of Los Angeles Public Health Department tracks COVID-19 cases and deaths of County residents.

Please continue to protect yourself and those around you by wearing a face covering, washing your hands regularly, staying at home as much as possible, keeping at least six feet of physical distance from others when in public, and avoiding people who do not live with you.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), wearing a mask that fits snugly against the sides of your face provides more protection against COVID-19. Choose a cloth mask with multiple layers of tightly woven, breathable fabric. Nose wires may also improve mask fit. Learn more about how you can improve your face covering fit on the CDC website.
