Five Things You Should Know About Stress
1. New “Pocket” Summer Camps at Veterans Memorial Building Begin on July 6—Residents Register Now!
Online registration for Culver City residents begins tomorrow morning, June 25 at 7:00 AM for Culver City Parks, Recreation & Community Services newly created Just 4 Kids Pocket Camps. We are back with themed weeks, games, arts/crafts, many outdoor activities, special events and more! Open to ages 5 (must have completed Kindergarten) through 11, many precautions have been implemented for the safety of participants, parents, and staff. Camp will consist of a “pocket” of 8 to 12 children and one counselor per room for 6 hours per day, with no interaction with other “pockets.” Siblings and members of the same household must register in the same group regardless of age. Employees and participants are required to wear masks, maintain physical distancing when feasible, wash hands often and follow other precautionary measures that are detailed on the City’s Day Camp website. Snacks and lunch will not be included and should be supplied for each child. Daily check in and out will occur at the grass field by the horseshoe parking lot and will include a temperature and wellness check. If a child or parent exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19, they will not be allowed to attend camp. Space will be very limited both in physical area and participant numbers. All camp weeks must be paid in full, with no deposits and no refunds unless camp is cancelled by the City. For more information and the link for online registration, visit the City’s Day Camp website.
2. Culver City Plunge Reopens in a Limited Capacity July 6th!
We are happy to announce the Plunge is reopening! Our phased approach to program offerings will allow us to effectively assess our procedures and protocols to ensure that we are optimizing use of our limited time and space. As focus is on Culver City residents and the health and safety of all patrons and staff, we will operate in compliance with all directives from the LA County Department of Public Health. During Phase 1, doors will open for limited Lap and Family Swim beginning July 6th. All swimmers must pre-register for 45-minute blocks of time. Upon arrival a COVID-19 screening will take place prior to entry. Swimmers are strongly recommended to come dressed and ready for swim in order to minimize congregation in enclosed areas where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Locker rooms and indoor showers will be closed; however, restrooms and sinks will be available as well as newly installed outdoor showers. Reservations for Lap Swim will allow only one person per lane, per time block, with swimming in the center only. Family Swim lane reservations will allow up to four people; however, all swimmers must be from the same household and remain in the center of the lane for physical distancing. Swimming Lessons and Water Fitness Classes will begin on July 15th. In the schedule below, 15-minute breaks between sessions allow for staff to disinfect restrooms and all high touch surfaces.

4. COVID-19 Community Survey
The Economic Recovery Task Force is committed to exploring and progressing recovery efforts to sustain Culver City’s economic vitality, support our businesses community and ensure equity for the most vulnerable in our community. We want to hear from Culver City’s residents, businesses, community organizations, and visitors to understand current priorities and how the City can best support you as we recover, today, and into our shared future.
As we continue on the road to recovery, it’s important to remember where and why risks still exist. Group gatherings, especially indoors with people not from your household, leave you and everyone you come in contact with vulnerable to infection.
Lowest Risk – Staying in your home only with members of your household
Minimal Risk – Permitted out-of-home activities with face covering and physical distancing
Highest Risk – Attending gatherings without face coverings or physical distancing
6. Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 Starts with You
The Coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is still spreading. Remember to wear a face covering, stay 6 feet apart, avoid touching your face, and frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Be aware of commonly missed areas including, the backs of your thumbs, between your fingers, under your fingernails, and your wrists.
