1. Face Covering Guidance for Children
Children under the age of 2 should NOT wear cloth face coverings. Those between the ages of 2-8 should use them under adult supervision to ensure that the child can breathe safely and to avoid choking or suffocation. Children with breathing problems should not wear a face covering. For more information, view the LA County Department of Public Health’s Guidance for Cloth Face Coverings.
2. California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Extends Driver Licenses
On April 14, 2020, the DMV announced that it will extend driver licenses expiring during the COVID-19 pandemic. Licenses for drivers younger than 70 that expire between March and May 2020 are now valid through May 31, 2020. All commercial driver licenses, endorsements and certificates expiring between March and June 2020 are now valid through June 30, 2020, aligning with a recent emergency declaration from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The extension does not include medical certificates for commercial drivers, which requires additional administrative actions scheduled in the near future.
3. Free COVID-19 Testing Available
The City of Los Angeles has made free testing available to residents of Los Angeles County, including Culver City residents, who are displaying symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone who is interested in getting tested must first register on the screening website. This first step will determine if you are eligible to be tested. You will be asked to answer basic questions including name, date of birth, address, and whether you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, coughing, and difficulty breathing. After you answer all screening questions, the website (in real time) determines your testing eligibility and will identify the nearest testing site.
