Free Art in Public Places Walking Tour Book Now Available!
This fall, Culver City is celebrating the Art in Public
Places Program’s 30th Anniversary by making a walking tour book
available to the public – free of charge! “It is our sincere desire that you use this guide to explore the stunning works that have helped shape Culver City’s cultural community,” said Culver City Mayor Thomas Aujero Small.
This compact 76-page book contains color photographs of
many public artworks within the city. The book also includes pull out maps
featuring two different walking tours, each taking about one hour, spanning the
vibrant downtown area of Culver City. The book is designed to fit in your
pocket with a flap for holding any business cards, brochures or menus you pick
up along the way.
Learn about public art in Culver City, the historical
buildings, and other interesting things you may have noticed, but have not looked
at closely. There is a brief history of the city, as well as some factoids of
the artworks or buildings that are fascinating once discovered.
The books will be available at the following locations:
Culver City is a five-square-mile, urban community of 39,000 residents
surrounded mostly by the City of Los Angeles but also shares a border with
unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. It is centrally located on the
Westside near Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Los Angeles International
Airport. Culver City is particularly known for its well-run public school system, "small town" charm, growing high-tech and creative economies, and a dynamic downtown that is regionally known as a destination for restaurants, live theatre, and art galleries.
