COVID-19 updates from the City of Cerritos - October 23, 2020

The City's overnight parking restrictions moratorium has been extended through Monday, November 30. Citations will not be issued for vehicles parked on the street overnight without a permit or on street sweeping days.

Cerritos Library is pleased to offer a new virtual program about the sun as part of NASA's Universe of Learning. The "Our Star The Sun" video presents interesting facts about the sun, as well as fun crafts. A link to the video, plus educational resources, craft materials, a book list and science databases are available on the Cerritos Library's website at cerritoslibrary.us. This program is supported by NASA's Universe of Learning, in partnership with Smithsonian Affiliations.

Cerritos Library is also producing a new virtual Halloween Storytime & Crafts program that will be posted on the library's YouTube channel by Friday, October 30.

The City continues to carefully monitor State and County information about when and how City facilities will be allowed to reopen, and will provide updates as they become available. Los Angeles County is currently reporting a total of 631 cases of COVID-19 and 18 deaths due to COVID-19 in Cerritos. There are 25 reported cases of COVID-19 in the unincorporated area of Cerritos. The City’s website has a link titled “Novel Coronavirus in Los Angeles County” that opens a page with information about the number of cases in cities throughout the County.

People who think they need testing for COVID-19 should contact their health care provider. People who do not have a health care provider can call 211 for help. Information about how to schedule a free COVID-19 test appointment is available on the website covid19.lacounty.gov/testing.

Cerritos residents are reminded that the best defenses against COVID-19 are to wear a face covering, wash their hands frequently, practice social distancing and avoid touching their face.

L.A. Regional COVID-19 Recovery Fund

The L.A. Regional COVID-19 Recovery Fund was designed to provide much-needed financial relief and recovery for micro-entrepreneurs, small businesses, non-profits and diverse owned enterprises who have been struggling during the pandemic. The final round of the Fund's grant program opens for applications on Monday, October 26 and closes on Friday, October 30. Applicants can apply for grants ranging from $5,000-$25,000 one last time during this final round. For more information, visit lacovidfund.org.

Great Plates Delivered Program

The Los Angeles County Great Plates Delivered program has been extended through Sunday, November 8. This program provides three free home-delivered meals a day from local restaurants to qualifying older adults and adults over 60 who are at high-risk of COVID-19. L.A.
