COVID-19 updates from the City of Cerritos - August 28, 2020

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the City's overnight parking restrictions moratorium has been extended through Wednesday, September 30. Citations will not be issued for overnight parking violations or for vehicles parked on the street on street sweeping days.

Los Angeles County is currently reporting a total of 512 cases of COVID-19 and 13 deaths due to COVID-19 in Cerritos. There are 14 reported cases of COVID-19 in the unincorporated area of Cerritos. The City’s website has a link titled “Novel Coronavirus in Los Angeles County” that opens a page with information about the number of cases in cities throughout the County.

The City continues to carefully monitor State and County information about when and how City facilities will be allowed to reopen, and will provide updates as they become available. County of L.A. Department of Public Health COVID-19 Presentation

Noel Barakat, RN, MSN, MPH, Regional Health Officer, San Gabriel Valley (Service Planning Area 3) for the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, presented information about COVID-19 during the August 27 Cerritos City Council meeting and answered questions from the community. She discussed COVID-19 data, how to prevent the spread of the disease, sources for additional information and testing sites. She noted that while the number of COVID-19 cases is in decline, everyone needs to continue taking the recommended safety steps to continue the recovery journey. She encouraged the community to avoid the three C’s: confined spaces, crowds and close contact. She also shared the following resources:
