Carry-on Pet Program - One Year Pet-iversary
We're celebrating one year of our Carry-on Pet Program! The program allows cats and dogs under 20lbs to travel on Capitol Corridor for $29 one-way, making it easier for pet parents to go on adventures with their fur-babies. 😺🐶
To commemorate this Pet-iversary, we'll have pet pop-ups where we'll hand out swag, prizes, and information about the program at stations along the route. Follow us on social for dates!

One Millionth Passenger on Capitol Corridor
Last month, we surpassed one million riders on Capitol Corridor in a single fiscal year since 2019. This incredible achievement is especially meaningful as it signifies growth of new and returning riders post-pandemic, a love for train travel, and the trust you’ve placed in us to get you to your destinations.
We celebrated this milestone with Ron Grassi, our millionth rider, as he commuted to work on the train, which he's done for 14 years. At Suisun-Fairfield Station we greeted him along with news crews, balloons, and Suisun City mayor and CCJPA Board member, Alma Hernandez and staff.
Thank you riders for choosing Capitol Corridor! 🎊

Capitol Corridor Project Updates
CalSTA TIRCP Award: We've had an eventful past few weeks here at Capitol Corridor. 🥳 Two weeks ago, we were awarded $14 million by the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) through the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP). The funds will support the construction of three key project components that will enhance intercity and regional rail, improve bus services, and strengthen active transportation connections.
FRA CRISI Award: Last week we announced that the Federal Railroad Administration awarded us $20 million through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program to secure our corridor through our Right-of-Way Safety Improvement Program. This award will be matched with $5 million from the CalSTA's Strategic Rail Assistance (SRA) Program. These combined funds will strengthen rail safety along the Capitol Corridor route at high-priority locations in Solano, Contra Costa, and Alameda Counties.
Stege Signal System Completion: We are also proud to announce the completion of the Stege Signal System project. This joint venture, funded by CCJPA and Union Pacific Railroad, replaced the existing railroad signal system and crossovers at Stege, between Richmond and Berkeley train stations. The old signal system had become outdated and prone to periodic failures, causing train delays during repairs. The new signal system is expected to improve reliability and support sustained operation over time. This should lead to fewer slow orders—temporary speed restrictions imposed for safety reasons—better on-time performance, improved customer satisfaction, and increased ridership benefits. The updated crossovers will increase speed limits for trains while switching tracks from 10MPH to 40MPH.
