Domestic Violence and Brandishing Firearm Arrest

INCIDENT TYPE: Arrest of suspect for Domestic Violence after police were
contacted regarding a male subject assaulting and threatening to kill his victim girlfriend. Police
later serve search warrant on suspect’s apartment and recover firearm.

ARRESTED: (S) Marcus Gipson, Jr. 25 yr. old Benicia Resident
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 09/19/2013 at approximately 1:49 a.m., Benicia Police responded to the 500 block of West J Street on a report that a 23 year old female victim had been physically assaulted by her 25 year old boyfriend at his apartment in the 1000 block of West 5th Street. The female victim had been punched several times in the face and had sustained several injuries. (S) Marcus Gipson was identified as the responsible. The victim had fled the area and requested assistance from a resident in the nearby neighborhood whom called the police. The victim did not require medical attention at the scene. The victim indicated that her boyfriend had also pointed a small hand gun at her and threatened to shoot and kill her during the assault. An Emergency Protective Order was granted by a Solano County Judge protecting the victim from her boyfriend (S) Gipson. (S) Gipson and the female victim have been in a dating relationship for approximately six months and she at times lives with him at his apartment.
After further investigation, Benicia Police Detectives authored a search warrant for Gipson’s residence in the 1000 Block of West 5th Street. At approximately 3:15 p.m. Benicia Police Department Detectives located (S) Gipson near his residence and took him into custody without incident. Police responded to Gipson’s residence and served the search warrant. During the service of this search warrant a .22 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun was recovered. The gun was loaded with five live rounds of ammunition.
(S) Gipson was served the Emergency Protective Order and later transported and booked into the Solano County Jail in Fairfield. Gipson is currently on probation in Solano County for a previous DUI conviction.
