Hello,
Last Wednesday, City Hall was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed 80 second graders from Donaldson Way Elementary School for their Government Day field trip! Students met City staff and the Mayor and learned about the services our residents rely on every day. Their curiosity and thoughtful questions made for a fun and memorable visit. Thank you to the teachers, students and parent volunteers for spending the morning with us!
I'm excited to welcome our new Youth Commissioners! These bright seniors from American Canyon High School will bring fresh perspectives to our City Commissions and help ensure our youth have a voice in shaping our community. We look forward to their contributions!
Calling all nonprofits! Applications for the City's Community Grant Program are open through Sunday, Oct. 18. Funding is available for programs, services and events that enrich the lives of American Canyon residents. If your organization is making a positive difference in our community, I encourage you to apply here! Eligible applications will be reviewed by the Parks and Community Services Commission at its upcoming meeting on Thursday, Nov. 12.
We still want to hear from you! The City's National Community Survey remains open, and your feedback is important. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts and help shape the future of American Canyon. Take the survey today!

Ballots for the Nov. 3 General Election have arrived. Voting is an important way to participate in our democracy and have your voice heard. I encourage voters to take time to review their ballots, learn about the candidates and measures, and make informed decisions. Whether you vote by mail or in person, be sure to cast your ballot on time. Every vote matters!
Thank you for staying engaged and helping shape the future of American Canyon.
Take Care, Jason B. Holley City Manager

October is Filipino American History Month, a time to celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans in our community. Last weekend, we gathered at Shenandoah Park for Manila Munchies – Pasko Vibes! It was wonderful to see families, friends, and neighbors enjoying Filipino food and celebrating the traditions and heritage that are such an important part of American Canyon.
Earlier that same morning, the American Canyon Fire Protection District welcomed residents to its annual Open House! Families had a chance to meet our firefighters, learn about their work, and have a little fun at the firehouse. Thank you to our firefighters and Fire District staff for welcoming the community and for all you do to keep American Canyon safe.
There’s also great progress to share on the Napa Valley Vine Trail! Since the vision for a 47-mile trail from Vallejo to Calistoga began in 2008, 33 miles have been completed. This includes the connection between American Canyon and Vallejo, offering residents an active transportation option to reach the Vallejo Ferry Terminal. Work continues on additional segments to create a continuous trail through Napa Valley. Thank you to the Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition and its partners for their work on this project. Learn more at vinetrail.org.
Last night, I joined Congressman Mike Thompson and Napa County Supervisor Belia Ramos for an American Canyon Town Hall meeting. We shared federal, county, and local updates on issues affecting American Canyon and the region. It was great to hear directly from residents, and I appreciate everyone who joined us for the conversation.

Learn More About Measure P
Here in American Canyon, our General Fund supports the services our community relies on every day, from public safety and fire mitigation to parks, recreation, streets, and other general City services.
Sales tax makes up approximately 10% of our General Fund revenue, generating $3.5 million annually. American Canyon's current sales tax rate is 7.75%, with 1% going directly to the City. For example, on a $100 television purchase, the City receives $1.
On November 3, American Canyon voters will vote on Measure P, a proposed 1% local general sales tax measure. If approved by the voters, the sales tax rate would increase from 7.75% to 8.75%, and the City would receive approximately $2 on that same $100 purchase.
Measure P is projected to generate approximately $3.7 million annually in locally controlled revenue that would stay in American Canyon, rather than being shared with the State or County.
As a general tax, the revenue could be allocated toward general City services and community priorities, like public safety, fire mitigation, parks, recreation, and streets. Funding decisions would be made by the City Council through the public budget process, taking community needs and priorities into consideration.
