Two Arrested for Commercial Burglary in American Canyon
AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., July 9, 2026 —On July 6, 2026, a business located in the 1100 block of Green Island Road, reported a burglary and which over $100,000 in tools, copper wire, and vehicles were taken.
American Canyon Police Officers began investigating the incident and were able to identify two vehicles associated with the crime and shared this information with other law enforcement agencies.
On July 7, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office notified ACPD they had stopped one of the vehicles and had the driver detained in their jurisdiction. ACPD responded to the scene and were able to obtain evidence to place the driver, 53-year-old Daniel Lemas, of Hayward, under arrest for burglary, which included selfie photographs of him committing the crimes. He was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections for numerous felony crimes associated with burglary.
On July 8, the Hayward Police Department notified ACPD they had stopped the second vehicle of interest and had the driver detained in their jurisdiction. ACPD responded and placed 49-year-old, Dennis Tylij, of Hayward, under arrest and he was booked into NCDC for conspiracy to commit a crime, which is a felony.
On the same date, ACPD, Napa Sheriff Detectives, Hayward Police Officers, and members from the Napa Special Investigations Bureau served a search warrant in the 3200 block of Arden Road in Hayward. At this location, officers recovered some of the items stolen from the business in American Canyon.
