Hello,
The involvement of our residents in our local government is one of American Canyon's greatest strengths. Many residents – including our youth - serve in a variety of capacities – including on our commissions, school boards, or Citizen’s Academies, etc. In particular, those serving on our Parks and Community Services (PCS), Open Space, Active Transportation, and Sustainability (OSATS) and Planning Commissioners play a vital role as policy advisors for the City Council.
Next Tuesday, June 16, the Council will hold its annual joint meetings with PCS (6:30 p.m.) and OSATS (7:30 p.m.). Here the Commissioners will showcase their respective “capstone projects” for the year, namely the Parks and Community Services Master Plan and Active Transportation Plan. Next month, the Council will jointly meet with the Planning Commission to develop strategies furthering development along the highway (i.e. Broadway District Specific Plan).
I encourage residents to attend these meetings to learn more about these important efforts and share their perspectives. Thank you to our volunteer commissioners for their continued service and dedication to American Canyon. Your willingness to give back helps strengthen our community and shape its future.
Lastly, a big shout out to our public works team for rapidly addressing a massive water leak caused by a wayward truck driver early this morning (see below). Their efforts do not go unnoticed, and we will be holding the driver responsible for the damages.

American Canyon residents care deeply about the future of our community - and they aren’t shy in sharing their perspectives. This past year, we’ve seen that engagement firsthand as our Council Chambers filled with residents weighing in on important issues, including transportation, development, parks, public safety and environmental stewardship. These conversations haven’t always been easy, and opinions have certainly differed, but that is part of the process.
What has encouraged me most is the respect people have shown one another despite those differences. We don’t have to agree on every issue to move our community forward. We do, however, have a responsibility to listen, remain open to different perspectives and treat each other with civility. I am proud of the way our community has stepped up to participate in these discussions, and I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to attend meetings, stay informed and engage in the democratic process. Your voices matter, and they help shape the future of American Canyon.
This past Wednesday, we proudly raised the Juneteenth flag at City Hall, taking time to reflect on the significance of this important day in our nation's history. Later that evening, our community continued the celebration at Meet Me in the Street.
Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans learned of their freedom. It is both a celebration of progress and a reminder of the importance of building communities where everyone feels seen, valued and that they belong. For American Canyon, Juneteenth is also a reminder of what makes our city so special. We are a community shaped by people from many backgrounds, experiences, cultures and that diversity is one of our greatest strengths. You can see that spirit in our neighborhoods, schools, local businesses and community celebrations. As we recognize this important holiday, may we continue to embrace the values of inclusion, respect and understanding that make American Canyon a place we are all proud to call home.

Community Shout-Out: Reign City
Congratulations to Reign City Basketball for an incredible showing at the Reno Jam On It Memorial Day Weekend Tournament! Competing with a 23-team Level 3 bracket, the team went undefeated and captured the championship with a thrilling two-point victory in the final game.

Congratulations to Milly and Max Kane
American Canyon is proud to celebrate local siblings Milly and Max Kane on their outstanding achievement of qualifying for the National High School Rodeo Finals in Nebraska. After competing at the state level, these dedicated 4-H members earned the opportunity to represent California on the national stage.

EASE Home Program
Napa County and BayREN are excited to offer the new Efficiency and Sustainable Energy (EASE) Home program to help residents in Napa County make upgrades that improve home comfort and save on energy costs. They manage every step - from the site visit to installation and applying for permits and rebates - so you don't have to. 3 Ways MCE Helps Lower Energy Costs
MCE offers several ways to help lower energy costs. As of April 2026, MCE reduced generation rates by 14% and added a temporary bill credit through the end of the year, saving the average household about $12 per month. Eligible households and small businesses may also qualify for the MCE Cares Credit, which provides up to $25 off monthly energy bills. In addition, MCE offers programs and rebates to help reduce energy use, lower long-term costs and improve home comfort and efficiency.

 Flip the Lid Coming June 23
Beginning Tuesday, June 23, the City will launch the “Flip the Lid” education program as part of California SB 1383 requirements to help reduce contamination in trash, recycling, and organic trash carts.
Residents may notice City staff conducting random curbside cart inspections Monday through Friday between the hours of 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. During inspections, staff will check carts to ensure materials are placed in the correct containers:
- Gray Cart = Trash
- Blue Cart = Recycling
- Green Cart = Organics
Residents may notice educational tags on carts providing sorting guidance and helpful reminders. This program is educational only - residents will not receive fines or penalties as part of this inspection.
We appreciate the community’s partnership in keeping recyclable and organic materials out of the landfill and supporting a cleaner, more sustainable community.
