February 27, 2026
Hello,
This week, we proudly concluded our 2026 State of the City Roadshow, highlighted by strong community engagement and support at our Town Hall meetings. You can view our 2026 State of the City video and Annual Report to learn more about this important community update.
Supporting economic development is a team effort, and the City works closely with the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce to support our business community. As part of that partnership, the Chamber will host its State of Business Luncheon on Thursday, March 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club. This event provides an opportunity to learn more about the state of American Canyon’s business community, hear updates from our public safety team, and recognize Chamber members.
We are also proud to announce that the City has received the Bicycle Friendly Community designation from the League of American Bicyclists. This recognition reflects our commitment to improving active transportation connectivity and enhancing pedestrian safety throughout our community.
As a reminder, nominations for the Gateway Award close on March 1. This is the City’s highest honor, recognizing individuals who have made exceptional volunteer contributions to the American Canyon community. I encourage you to take this final opportunity to nominate someone who embodies the American Canyon spirit through service, leadership, and dedication. The recipient will be announced at the Community Recognition Dinner on Saturday, April 25, at the DoubleTree Hotel and Spa. Tickets are now available for purchase.
Thank you for staying engaged and helping shape the future of American Canyon.
Take Care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

As Black History Month comes to a close, we take time to reflect, not only on the history that shaped our nation, but also on the resilience, leadership, and excellence that continue to shape our community.
This week, I had the honor of attending American Canyon High School’s “Night of Black Brilliance,” hosted by the Black Student Union. It was an evening filled with inspiration and pride, a powerful reminder of the talent and leadership rising right here in our community.
As a proud Black man and your Mayor, events like this are deeply personal to me. I was born into a multiracial family. My father is Black and my mother is White, and I grew up navigating identity, expectations, and belonging. When I was in high school in Philadelphia, I made a decision that could have defined my life in a very different way. I wrote my name on the Liberty Bell, and I was arrested.
That moment could have defined me, but it didn’t. The police officer who arrested me didn’t just see a mistake, he saw potential. He reminded me that I had a greater purpose. Along with my parents and aunt, who set firm rules and refused to let me settle for less than my best, that moment changed my trajectory.
After high school, I joined the United States Navy and served for 11 years. I then became a police officer and served for 22 years. At every chapter of my life, mentors stepped in to guide me, challenge me, and believe in me.
What you go through does not define who you are. What defines you is how you respond, who you choose to listen to, and whether you believe you are meant for something greater.
Today, I have the incredible privilege of serving as your Mayor. I stand here not because my path was perfect, but because people invested in me, believed in me, and reminded me of my purpose.
Black History Month is about honoring the giants who paved the way. It is also about recognizing the brilliance in our own backyard, in our young people, and throughout our community. To the students here in American Canyon: Your brilliance is real. Your voice matters. Your future is bright. Let’s continue building a community where every young person has a mentor, has support, and has an opportunity to rise. Because Black History is not only something we celebrate, it is something we continue to write together.
Together in Service, Mayor Pierre Washington

 Hydrant Flushing Coming Soon
Hydrant flushing will begin on Monday, March 16, starting in Zone 1, and will continue throughout the City in six service areas. Each area will take approximately five to seven days to complete. This routine maintenance helps maintain our water quality and ensures the entire water system operates properly.
You may notice temporary water discoloration in your area. This is normal, and the water remains safe to use. Discoloration typically clears within a few hours after flushing is complete.
Tip: Check your water before doing laundry, especially when washing white or light-colored clothing. Stay updated! Weekly zone updates can be found at: AmericanCanyon.gov/hydrantflushing.
