January 30, 2026
Hello,
Civic engagement remains a cornerstone of American Canyon's success. In the coming weeks, you will have several opportunities to learn more about key initiatives, share your input on important projects and help guide City priorities for the year ahead.
At the upcoming City Council meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 3, the Council will receive a presentation from the Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA) on its updated plan for Highway 29. NVTA will share proposed changes to the project, including moving away from roundabouts and instead exploring other alternative solutions such as advanced signal technology. Community participation is strongly encouraged, as public input will help inform next steps. An additional public meeting on this topic is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13.
Community input is also central to the City Council’s Strategic Planning Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 9:00 a.m., at the Holiday Inn. This meeting is open to the public and will help guide City priorities and staff initiatives for the coming year.
Please join us for this year’s State of the City, where we will reflect on our accomplishments from 2025 and share priorities for the year ahead. The City Council will host two Town Hall meetings:
-
Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m. located at Canyon Oaks Elementary School in the Multipurpose Room
-
Thursday, Feb. 26, at 11:00 a.m. located at the Adult Activity Center
Be on the lookout for the State of the City booklet, which will be mailed to your home before the Town Hall meetings.
As we look ahead to the spring, the City will also take time to recognize individuals who have made meaningful contributions to the American Canyon community. The Gateway Award is the City’s highest honor, recognizing exceptional contributions to the American Canyon community. Nominations are now open, and I encourage you to nominate someone whose time and dedication have made a meaningful difference. The Gateway Award winner will be announced at the Community Recognition Dinner on Saturday, April 25, at the DoubleTree Hotel and Spa. Tickets are now available for purchase.
Thank you for staying engaged and helping shape the future of American Canyon.
Jason B. Holley City Manager

As Mayor, I believe the City Council does its best work when we listen closely to our residents and remain accountable to the community we serve. Building a strong city means taking time to step back, reflect on our work and stay connected to the experiences and perspectives of those who call American Canyon home.
As part of this ongoing effort, the City Council is continuing to gather community feedback on our work over this past year. Many residents have already shared their input, and we are still collecting surveys to ensure we hear from as many voices as possible. If you have not yet participated, I encourage you to take a few minutes to complete this short survey. Your feedback plays an important role in shaping our priorities and strengthening the trust between the City Council and the community we serve.
February is also Black History Month, a time to celebrate the history, culture and lasting contributions of African Americans. Here in American Canyon, Black residents, families, and community leaders, past and present, have helped shape our civic life and make our city a stronger, more welcoming place. As we honor this history, we also reaffirm our shared commitment to building a community where every resident feels valued, represented and heard. I am proud to stand with our community in continuing the work of fostering respect, inclusion and opportunity for all. I invite you to watch this video as I share my reflections in recognition of Black History Month.
Together in Service, Mayor Pierre Washington

Outdoor Education Project Ribbon Cutting
On Wednesday, Jan. 28, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Outdoor Education project at Wetlands Edge Park. It was a meaningful investment in environmental stewardship and community connection. The new space will provide opportunities for students and community members to explore, learn and engage with the outdoors for years to come. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life!
