Burglary Leads to Dual Pursuits and Two Arrests
AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., Dec. 4, 2025 — Just after 1 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, American Canyon Police received a report of a burglary in progress at a construction site on Hess Hill. Security personnel monitoring live video observed suspects breaking into Connex boxes and provided descriptions of two vehicles involved.
As officers arrived, they saw both vehicles leaving the scene. Attempts to stop them on Highway 29 and Napa Junction Road were unsuccessful as each vehicle immediately fled southbound, initiating two simultaneous pursuits.
The first vehicle continued south into Vallejo before traveling westbound on Highway 37, where it left the roadway and crashed into the marshland. Both occupants fled on foot. With assistance from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, officers located the driver, 27-year-old East Palo Alto resident Laritza Valencia, hiding in the marsh. The second occupant was not located.
The second vehicle also fled south into Vallejo, continuing at high speeds through Contra Costa County and into Oakland. The pursuit ended when the driver abandoned the vehicle on Plymouth Street near 98th Avenue. Officers located and arrested the driver, 32-year-old Redwood City resident Pedro Madrigal, who was found hiding in the yard of an unrelated residence.
Approximately $90,000 in stolen tools and equipment from the construction site were recovered from both vehicles, along with additional tools commonly used to commit burglaries.
Both suspects were booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections on charges including felony evading, burglary, possession of stolen property and other related offenses.
