August 15, 2025
Hello,
As the new school year kicks off, I want to wish our students, teachers and families a great start. Please take extra care during drop-off and pick-up, slow down, watch for pedestrians and follow our We ❤ Safe Streets Pledge so everyone gets where they’re going safely.
A strong community is built on effective planning, collaboration and follow-through. That means showing up — whether it’s helping at an event, learning more about your city or lending your voice to shape the future.
Next Thursday, Aug. 21, the Napa County Climate Action Committee is hosting an open house workshop on the draft Regional Climate Action and Adaptation Plan from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the American Canyon Public Library. This $1.1-billion dollar countywide plan will play a crucial role in our region’s future sustainability efforts, and your input will ensure the final plan reflects our community’s priorities. I encourage everyone to learn more about the draft plan here and attend the meeting to make your voice heard.
Additionally, we have some other great opportunities coming this fall for you to get involved and make a difference:
-
2025 American Canyon Citizens Academy: Register by Sept. 16 to get an inside look at city operations, learn how decisions are made, connect with fellow residents and so much more.
-
Youth Commissioner Applications: Now accepting applications through Sept. 5 for American Canyon High School Seniors to serve on one of our three commissions. A great way to build a resume, provide guidance on important local issues and gain valuable leadership experience.
-
The Wall That Heals: Volunteer your time from Oct. 16-19. Help with setup, greet visitors and be a part of this traveling exhibit that honors our military heroes.
While our residents are stepping up, our City team is also hard at work on projects that will make our streets safer, our infrastructure stronger and our community better connected.
Thank you for your ongoing patience. Every improvement we make, from events that bring us together to projects that strengthen our community and neighborhoods, is an investment in American Canyon’s future. For current details on all of our projects, visit our Construction Updates page.
Thank you for being an active part of our community.
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

School is back in session — let’s look out for one another!
As families settle back into school routines, our streets and trails get a little busier in the mornings and afternoons. Whether you’re heading to work, dropping off the kids, biking to school or out for a walk, we all share the same goal: getting everyone where they need to go safely.
In the spirit of our We ❤ Safe Streets Pledge, let’s each do our part to protect our children, neighbors and friends. If you haven’t yet, take the pledge today and encourage others to join.
Here are some important safety reminders as you drive around town:
- No texting or handheld devices while driving or biking.
- Only take urgent calls hands-free.
- Show respect for people walking and biking — share the road safely.
- Follow the posted speed limit.
- Leave early so you’re not tempted to rush.
- Display the Safe Driving Pledge decal on your vehicle and encourage others to take the We ❤ Safe Streets Pledge.
Please plan for extra traffic and delays near schools — your patience makes a difference.
The safety of our streets and trails is built on the small, everyday choices we each make. Together, we can ensure American Canyon remains a safe, friendly place to live, work and play.
Thank you for being a caring neighbor — and welcome back to another fun-filled school year!
Together in service, Mayor Pierre Washington
