Four Arrested After Officer Interrupts Car Theft Crew in American Canyon

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., June 17, 2025 — In the early morning hours on Saturday, June 14, a vigilant American Canyon Police officer disrupted an in-progress auto theft operation, leading to the arrest of four suspects following a brief pursuit.

Just after 2 a.m., while patrolling the area of Golden Brook Lane, the officer observed a masked man in gloves and a hoodie fleeing from a parked vehicle. The suspect sprinted toward a waiting Nissan Altima idling in the middle of the road. As the officer approached, the Altima sped away, nearly striking the patrol vehicle.

The officer initiated a pursuit, during which the Altima ran multiple stop signs before coming to a stop on Newell Drive. Inside the vehicle were four male suspects, three adults and one juvenile, as well as several pairs of gloves, masks and tools commonly used for auto theft, including screwdrivers.

One of the suspects admitted they had been attempting to steal cars in the neighborhood.

The adult suspects, Isaac Sanders, Logan Costa and Travis Copperhil, all residents of Fairfield, were booked into Napa County Jail on charges of possession of burglary tools, conspiracy to commit a crime and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Sanders, identified as the driver, was additionally charged with felony evading.

The juvenile, who provided a false name to officers, was arrested and transported to Napa County Juvenile Hall.
