Hello Am Can!
May is here, and that means summer is right around the corner! Whether you’re looking to fill your calendar with outdoor adventures or find the perfect program, we’ve got fun for all ages. Don’t miss out on what we have planned; take a look at our summer guide and register here.
Mark your calendars for some great community events this month. On Saturday, May 10, we invite you to join us at the ACT Community Program from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Wetlands. Come explore, connect and learn with us! This is a free event; please sign up here.
Then, on Saturday, May 17, it’s a double feature! If you’re 14 or older and love the outdoors, grab your gloves and help us out at the Newell Trail Work Day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. At the same time, kids ages 5 and up can head to Soro’s Recess for games, face painting and all-around good times from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Shenandoah Park. Join the fun and click here to register!
As we celebrate the joys of the season, we also take time to pause and reflect. On Memorial Day, please join us to honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. The American Canyon community will come together on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park (2801 Broadway) to remember and honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This event is a collaboration of the American Canyon Troop Support (ACTS), the American Canyon Lions, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1123 and many other invaluable community members. Our offices will be closed in observance on Monday, May 26, and will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, May 27.
Wishing you a joyful and meaningful May!
See you out there, Alexandra Ikeda Parks and Recreation Director
