AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., March 6, 2025 -  A routine traffic stop in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 6, 2025 led to the arrest of a man in possession of suspected methamphetamine, counterfeit money, and stolen property.

Just after midnight, American Canyon police pulled over a Honda Civic traveling northbound on Highway 29 near Eucalyptus Avenue for expired registration. During the stop, officers identified the driver, 44-year-old Lorenzo Chavez-Sanchez of Suisun City, and noticed that he had an open bottle of tequila in the vehicle’s center console.

Upon further investigation, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a ski mask, two counterfeit $100 bills, a scale, and packaging materials typically associated with drug sales. Additionally, several thousand dollars in cash, suspected methamphetamine, and two stolen license plates were found inside the car.

Based on the evidence collected at the scene, Chavez-Sanchez was arrested and booked into Napa County Jail for possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of counterfeit bills, possession of stolen property, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
