Our officers work diligently every day to keep our streets safe, and this month has been no exception. I’d like to take a moment to highlight three recent incidents that underscore the importance of proactive policing and the vigilance of our team.
On January 27, officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 29 near Crawford Way for expired registration and seatbelt violations. What began as a simple traffic enforcement action quickly escalated when officers discovered all three occupants were carrying concealed, loaded firearms. Further investigation revealed the weapons were either unregistered or stolen. In addition to multiple felony firearm charges, one occupant had an outstanding arrest warrant for robbery. All three were taken into custody and booked into Napa County Jail.
On February 10, a separate stop led to the discovery of body armor, a loaded firearm magazine, and suspected methamphetamine packaged for sale. The driver, who was already on probation, also displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. With assistance from the Napa County Sheriff’s K-9 unit, our officers ensured that these dangerous items did not remain on our streets.
Most recently, on February 19, officers pulled over another vehicle for expired registration and uncovered an identity theft operation. Inside, they found multiple stolen credit cards and Amazon packages with their shipping labels removed—clear signs of fraudulent activity. Thanks to the officers’ keen investigative work, the driver was arrested, preventing further victimization in our community.
These cases serve as a reminder that even routine enforcement actions can have a significant impact on public safety. I commend our officers for their dedication and thank our community for their ongoing support in keeping American Canyon safe.
Stay vigilant, stay safe, and as always, if you see something, say something.
