December 13, 2024
Hello,
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
|
Last week’s Magic of the Season was a blast and the Reindeer Run never disappoints. I hope you all have been enjoying special holiday festivities — whether out in the community or in the comfort of your home.
Please remember to support our local business when shopping for holiday gifts this year.

Recently, employees gathered at the fire station for our annual holiday luncheon. With special thanks to Riley’s Food Truck, we recognized and celebrated our colleagues. But here in American Canyon, we are always thinking about others. Employees contributed to the Toys for Tots by filling a bin at our luncheon and adopting multiple local families in the annual Adopt a Family hosted by American Canyon Kiwanis Club.
This season, we’re not only celebrating holiday magic but also a new chapter for our City Council. At the Dec. 3 Council Meeting, Mayor Pierre Washington and Council Members Melissa Lamattima and Brando Cruz took their Oaths of Office. Thank you to everyone who joined us to welcome our new team of leadership!

I also want to wish the American Canyon Wolves football team good luck as they take on the Southern California champion Palmdale in the 5-A state title game! The big showdown kicks off this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Long Beach City College. Shortly after the Wolves departed for their journey south Thursday morning, a rainbow ended right at their stadium — a colorful sign of hope and good fortune! From all of us, we're cheering you on and proud of your journey. |

New Pedestrian Feature: Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons
We’re excited to introduce a new pedestrian safety feature in AmCan!
The Public Works team has installed new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at the new crosswalk intersection of Benton Way and Huntington Way. These high-visibility warning lights help make crossing safer for everyone, especially our American Canyon Middle School students!
How to use RRFBs:
- Pedestrians: Press the button to activate the flashing lights before crossing
- Drivers: When lights are flashing, stop and yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk
We encourage all pedestrians to use this new safety feature, especially during drop-off and pick-up times for school. As a reminder, even when the lights aren’t flashing, drivers must yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
