American Canyon Police Arrest Convicted Felon
with Loaded Firearm During Late-Night Traffic Stop

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., Oct. 17, 2024, 9:30 AM - On the night of October 16th at about 10:30 p.m., an American Canyon Police Officer pulled over a silver Mercedes on American Canyon Road near Silver Oak Trail because the vehicle did not display a front license plate and had a taillight out. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Jayvontay Williams from San Francisco, was found to have a loaded, unregistered Glock 19 semi-automatic handgun in the purse of his juvenile passenger. Williams admitted to placing the firearm in the juvenile's purse when the police initiated the stop.
Williams is a convicted felon and is currently out on court release from San Mateo County and Alameda County for pending criminal charges. He was arrested and booked in Napa County on the following felony offenses:

  • Possession of ammunition by a prohibited person,
  • Carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm,
  • Carrying a loaded firearm with a prior felony conviction,
  • Possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle,
  • Carrying a loaded firearm with a prior firearms conviction

The juvenile passenger was released to family members, while Williams was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.
