Hello,
The election is less than a month away, and I encourage you to vote and make your voice heard. Please note that Oct. 21 is the last day to register to vote and receive a ballot by mail, but you may register and vote in person at any vote center between Oct. 22 and Nov. 5. Visit the County of Napa’s website to view all vote center locations.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to honor Mayor Garcia and Council Member Aboudamous for their dedicated service to the city. Mayor Garcia served an extraordinary 22 years on the City Council, with 19 of those years as mayor, making him the longest-serving mayor in American Canyon’s history. Council Member Aboudamous was elected to the City Council in 2016, driven by a commitment to make our community a better place to live, work and play. Their leadership has truly left a lasting impact, and we are grateful for their dedication to American Canyon!
Leadership in our city comes not only from elected officials but also from all residents who step up to make an impact. Our Citizens Academy not only equips participants with a deeper understanding of local government, but with a renewed passion to make a difference. Did you know that all candidates in this year’s election are alumni of our Citizens Academy program? I can’t think of a better way to foster community involvement and passion for public service!
If you were unable to participate in this year’s Citizens Academy, you can still get involved in serving our community. American Canyon is looking for engaged residents to volunteer to fill openings on commissions starting next year. If you’re interested in advising the City Council directly on issues such as community planning, parks and recreation or sustainability, apply here today.
Thank you for being part of AmCan, and remember — get out the vote!
Take care, Jason B. Holley City Manager
