Hello,
Building a stronger, more connected community starts with understanding how it all works.
This week, we kicked off the opening session of Citizens Academy. This is just week one of eight, and it’s inspiring to see our participants’ enthusiasm for learning how we serve our community through these weekly sessions.
I’d also like to give a special shoutout to the dedicated American Canyon High School teachers — Corey Atkinson, Andre Balduaf, Laura Bell, Beth Goff, Aaron Johnson and Scott Marsden — who are bringing the Citizens Academy experience into the classroom. Their commitment is inspiring our students to engage with their community and equipping them with a solid understanding of how local government operates. Each month, city staff will visit the high school to share insights into the functions of various city departments.
Meanwhile, nearly eighty (80) second graders from Donaldson Way Elementary visited City Hall this past Wednesday for their civic education field trip. A big thank you to the students, their volunteer chaperones and teachers for joining us!
Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement in our community. There are even more exciting events and activities as we fall into the season, and I can’t wait to see you there!
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager
