Driver arrested for hit-and-run while driving under the influence

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., August 26, 2024, 2:00 p.m. - On Sunday, August 25, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., American Canyon Police arrested 46-year-old Napa resident Rigoberto Montoya-Alvarez after he was identified as the driver in a hit-and-run traffic collision that occurred on Flosden Road near the city limits. A passenger in the victim’s vehicle reported a complaint of pain and was transported to a local hospital.

Officers located Montoya-Alvarez in the driver’s seat of the Ford F150 that was described leaving the scene, parked in the middle of Castellina Circle in American Canyon. He showed signs of driving under the influence (DUI), and an open container of beer was inside his truck. After further investigation, he was arrested for felony hit and run, DUI, and violation of his Napa County DUI probation terms. Montoya-Alvarez is in custody at the Napa County Department of Corrections.
