Extortion scheme arrest
AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., August 21, 2024, 4:00 p.m. - On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Bhupiner Singh, a Fremont resident, was arrested for his participation in an extorting scheme. The investigation was initiated when the victim, an American Canyon resident, informed the American Canyon Police Department that his personal computer was hacked. The suspects convinced the victim that they were with the US Department of Treasury and attempted to extort him of approximately $95,000.00. Napa Sheriff's Office (NSO) Detectives, American Canyon Police Department and Napa Special Investigations Bureau were able to determine Singh was involved and arrested him in Martinez, CA. NSO Detectives believe these suspects are involved in other extorting crimes in different jurisdictions. Singh was arrested on the following charges:

- 368(b)(1) PC
- 487(a) PC
