Starting July 15, major road reconstruction on Benton Way, from Hummingbird Way to Elliott Drive, will advance to the next phase. This includes pulverizing the existing roadway, adding cement and water, compacting with rollers and curing to create a stabilized base layer for new asphalt. Construction hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. This phase of the project is expected to last approximately three weeks.
During construction, Benton Way will be closed to traffic and on-street parking Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Chaucer Lane will be open for access to the Aquatic Center parking lot during and after work hours. Residents of Benton Way and Parkview Court will have limited access during non-working hours. Pedestrian access to properties along Benton Way will always be open.
Street closures will be clearly marked with detours for alternative routes. Expect travel delays near the work zone. We aim to minimize disruptions during this project. Weekly updates will be available at AmericanCanyon.gov/ConstructionUpdates.
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

Flip the Lid
Let’s talk trash! Over the next few weeks, the City of American Canyon will be conducting “flip-the-lid” audits. These audits are a State requirement as outlined in California's recycling law (SB 1383), which requires residents and businesses to place compostable and recyclable materials in the appropriate carts and bins.
During our inspections, we’ll check the landfill, recycling and organics carts and bins to see whether customers are placing materials into the correct bins. You may see AmCan staff in yellow safety vests conducting these “flip-the-lid” inspections in your neighborhood. If we note any contamination problems, we’ll let you know and provide important educational information.
For more information on SB 1383 and how to properly dispose trash, visit AmericanCanyon.gov/OrganicsRecycling.
