Shape your community: Participate in American Canyon's quality of life survey!

AMERICAN CANYON, CA, May 17, 2024 - The biennial quality of life survey, The National Community Survey™ (The NCS™), kicks off on May 22, 2024, welcoming all American Canyon residents who did not receive a mailed invitation to complete the survey to participate. Simply visit American Canyon’s Virtual City Hall at CityofAmericanCanyon.org/CommunitySurvey to share your input. While the City encourages all residents to take the online survey, those who were a part of the random sample that received mailed invites should follow the instructions on the invitation to participate.

“It’s important for all community members to participate in the survey in order for us to have a holistic understanding of local values and community insights,” says City Manager Jason Holley. “The results help staff and City Council identify priorities to further enhance the quality of life in American Canyon.”

Utilizing The National Community Survey™ (The NCS™) as the survey instrument, American Canyon compares results of residents’ opinions against those of other communities nationwide. The survey covers topics such as quality of life, essential community characteristics, services provided by American Canyon and future priorities. To ensure everyone’s voice is heard, the survey will be available in English, Spanish and Tagalog.

The NCS™ will be conducted through Polco, an innovative online engagement platform that lets residents provide direct input to the local government decision-making process. Polco is committed to a strict privacy policy — they only share anonymous, combined results. They never share participants’ individual data or votes. Residents can respond online or download the Polco app for Android or iOS. When completing the survey, residents will be asked to provide their ZIP code to confirm where they live. This allows the City to be sure they are hearing from each person only once and see which general area of the city respondents live in. Responses will remain anonymous, and personal information will be securely stored with Polco.

Mayor Leon Garcia encourages all residents to participate, stating, “American Canyon is a remarkable community, and the survey results will make it an even better place to live, work and play. I urge every American Canyon resident to participate in the survey and help shape our community's future.”

Residents with inquiries or in need of special accommodations to take the survey can contact the City Manager’s Office at (707) 647-5323, email communications@cityofamericancanyon.org or visit CityofAmericanCanyon.org/CommunitySurvey.

American Canyon previously conducted The NCS™ in 2022. Those results and comparisons are available at American Canyon’s Virtual City Hall at CityofAmericanCanyon.org/CommunitySurvey.
