February 2, 2024
Hello,
If you're looking for activities, the community calendar is full of great opportunities to explore in the next few weeks. There are volunteer and educational opportunities and even a Family Sock Hop event! The American Canyon Community Cats, a newly- established nonprofit in town, will host a "Feline the Love" event on February 10th. You can learn about their mission, support the cause, and even adopt a furry new family member.
If you haven't already, please plan to join us for the State of the City, where you'll gain valuable insights into our community’s future plans.
- Virtual Presentation: Wednesday, February 21, 2024, 6:30 PM, via the City's YouTube Channel.
- In-Person Presentation: Thursday, February 22, 2024, 11 AM, at the Adult Activity Center (2185 Elliott Drive).
- Chamber of Commerce Business Luncheon: Tuesday, March 12, 2024, 11:30 AM, at the Doubletree American Canyon. Tickets are available here.
Each year, we honor those who have significantly impacted American Canyon through the "Gateway Award," recognizing long-term and varied involvement in developing American Canyon agencies, organizations, or significant projects. All community members are invited to submit a nomination for the “Gateway Award." The deadline to submit a nomination is February 23, 2024. The winner will be recognized at the Community Recognition Ball on April 27, 2024 (save the date; tickets will be sold soon).
We hope you'll join us at Tuesday evening's City Council meeting to kick off the celebration of Black History Month. The Black community has made, and continues to make, incredible contributions throughout history. We recognize and celebrate their courage, hope, and ability to make our communities a better place. Join us throughout the month to uplift the voices and stories of those who have shaped our city and nation. The American Canyon Library will begin the month's celebrations on February 7, 2024 with a free event, where you can create your own beautiful painting that celebrates Black history and culture.
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager P.S. Go Niners!

Storm Safety Tips
Stormy weather is on the horizon! Ensure you’re prepared by following the tips below:
Text 94503 to 888777 to stay updated and receive mobile alerts.
If your property has experienced water runoff into your home or driveway, take steps to prevent this by preparing sandbags. We encourage you to fill up in advance of a significant rain event rather than wait until flooding issues occur. Visit City Hall (4381 Broadway) and stock up on sandbags now! Please bring your own shovel and gloves.
Never use products inside the home that generate dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, such as generators, outdoor grills, or propane heaters. Install carbon monoxide detectors to warn when concentration levels are high.
PG&E prepares for storms and proactively works to reduce the risk of outages. Customers can view real-time outage information on its website outage center and also sign up for outage notifications: https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com.
Please remember to slow down, turn on your headlights, use your windshield wipers, and maintain a distance of several car lengths between your car and other vehicles.
If you see downed wires or a hazardous situation, call 911 immediately. All other problems, such as clogged storm drains and downed trees, may be reported by calling (707) 995-8674.

Sites Reservoir Project
American Canyon is one of 27 participants in the new Sites Reservoir Project. If the project was built, based on the last several weeks of rain, it would have already filled up with enough water to meet the demands of approximately 350,000 Californians. Learn more on Sites Reservoir’s website.
