American Canyon Police arrest DUI driver after hit and run

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., January 31, 2024 - On Tuesday evening just after 6:30 PM, American Canyon Police Officers responded to a hit and run traffic collision that occurred on Highway 29 and Eucalyptus Drive. The victim followed the suspect, who took off from the collision driving in a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, to the area of Donaldson Way and West Carolyn Drive. The victim told officers that the driver fled on foot in that area and hid in nearby bushes. Officers stopped and detained the driver after he ran back to his Chevy and tried to flee again when they were searching for him.

The driver was identified as 30-year-old Oakland resident Carlos Perez. He was arrested for felony driving under the influence, felony hit and run, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license. Perez was booked into the Napa County Jail, and the victim was treated at a local hospital for minor-to-moderate injuries.
