Five Arrests Made at American Canyon Walmart Wednesday Afternoon

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., January 18, 2024 - American Canyon Police (ACPD) arrested five individuals involved in theft-related crimes within an hour Wednesday afternoon. ACPD initially responded to Walmart shortly after 2:00 p.m. for a report of a person shoplifting. An officer encountered the first shoplifter, thirty-six-year-old Garron Cooper, in front of the store as he walked out with a cart of stolen items. Garron took off running when being stopped, but an officer caught Garron during a foot pursuit and a short struggle inside the store. Garron’s accomplice and relative forty-two-year-old Donti Cooper of Suisun City, who was waiting in the getaway van in the parking lot, was contacted and also placed under arrest. Both Coopers were charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft. Garron Cooper was also charged with resisting arrest.

Before ACPD left Walmart, they learned another vehicle known to be involved in retail theft had entered the parking lot. Walmart employees notified officers that two females related to the vehicle had just left the store after stealing merchandise. Officers contacted both females, identified as thirty-seven-year-old Mihaela Bacelaru and forty-year-old Mirela Crudu, both of Vallejo and placed them under arrest for theft. Crudu was also arrested for her felony warrant. A family member of Bacelaru and Crudu, twenty-three-year-old Maria Ispir, also of Vallejo, showed up during the incident and was arrested for her felony warrant out of Contra Costa County. All of the individuals were booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.
