DUI driver arrested after vehicle pursuit in American Canyon and Vallejo

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., October 19, 2023 - On Wednesday afternoon just before 4:00 PM, an off-duty Napa Sheriff’s Deputy reported a reckless driver in a black BMW passing on the right shoulder near Rio Del Mar and Highway 29 in American Canyon. The driver was also reported to be drinking a beer when behind the wheel. American Canyon Police Officers stopped the reckless driver on Highway 29 and Crawford, and he was identified as 26-year-old Moreno resident Kevin Arias. Arias took off at a high speed when officers asked him to step out of his car. Officers pursued Arias southbound on the highway into Vallejo, but lost sight of his car. Shortly after, Vallejo Police Officers located Arias driving in their City and took Arias into custody after a second pursuit. Arias had a preliminary blood alcohol content that still showed well over the legal limit several hours after his arrest. Arias was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections by American Canyon Police for his two felony warrants out of Los Angeles County, felony evading, suspicion of driving under the influence as well as several other misdemeanor charges.
